About the nursery
This small, mail order nursery was situated, for many years, on a south facing slope in Hampshire.  In August 2015 it was relocated to a (roughly) south-facing garden in Wigtown, near Newton Stewart, in Dumfries and Galloway.

I aim to grow a large range of sempervivums and jovibarbas and sell them by mail order from April to September (the exact timing can vary depending on the weather).

Plants are sent bare rooted with as much soil as possible removed.  Generally I send out rooted offsets most suited to growing on in pots or planting in a small container with other varieties of houseleeks but occasionally it may be a larger rosette with offsets.

Plants are despatched by first class post Monday - Wednesday.

Postage and packing is £3.50 per order/parcel.
If buying more than one variety you must ask for an invoice before paying -
the invoice will show the correct £3.50 charge.

At present I am still uploading details of my plants and more varieties will be added throughout the season so keep checking!

About me
I’ve been growing houseleeks for over 30 years though for most of that time as a hobby only with a few sales at car boot sales.  For the last few years I’ve been attempting to build up the stock to increase my sales.

It’s important to me that the nursery is as wildlife friendly as possible and yes, there are patches of nettles and brambles. (but fewer than there were when we moved here 3 years ago!).  In Hampshire there was a good variety of wildlife including grasshoppers, woodlice, spiders etc and even common lizards and slow-worms PLUS, not so good, lots of slugs and snails.  Here I miss the slow-worms and lizards and there are hardly any worms in the garden which puzzles me.  There are masses of woodlice and slugs and a good variety of birds, including collared doves, blackbirds, house sparrows, chaffinches and robins.

I still grow houseleeks in beds as well as pots.  With the wetter climate I have decided it's essential to protect at least a couple of pots of each variety (except a few which so far have survived unprotected) from the rain in the winter.  I continue to experiment with new ways of growing them.

My other hobbies are photography and walking my border collie cross, Izzie.  We adopted Izzie from the Ark at Stubbington and have so much fun with her.  Fortunately she is very patient if I want to stop and photograph wild flowers or insects!
