Some Information About Sorrynige

Giving you a little more insight into the seller.

ALL ABOUT ME - SORRYNIGE

NOTE TO ALL MY BUYERS - I WILL NOT BE LISTING AGAIN ON EBID.
The attitude of certain other traders and the site admins here has led me to feel that the effort I have put in is wasted; I have had more problems with other traders here in a few months than in three years on eBay. Thank you though to all those buyers and sellers who have given consistently good service to me. I will be selling the same items on eBay with the same user name - I look forward to seeing some of you there.

ALL ABOUT MY AUCTIONS

Thanks for looking - I sell Linux distributions and open source software, and computer hardware (and anything else I can get my hands on!). All the hardware I sell is tested before listing - I will not sell anything that is defective.

Nearly all my auctions include postage; if not I will always state the postage clearly on the listing. I do not make surcharges for Paypal or anything else - the price you see is what you pay. I accept payment by the following means: -

  • Paypal - preferred, I do not impose any surcharge
  • PPPay
  • Postal Order
  • Cheque - I accept cheques, but please note that I will NOT send anything paid for by cheque until the cheque has cleared and the balance transferred, which normally takes my building society around a week. I cannot get to the building society every day so there may be a delay before I get to pay a cheque in. If you pay by cheque therefore expect a delay - do not bombard me with emails asking whether your cheque has gone through, as I've better things to do than chasing this!
I do not accept bank transfer, and I strongly advise against sending cash by post.

Items paid for by Paypal, Nochex, PPPay, or postal order will usually be despatched within one working of receipt of payment - please note though that I work full time in the week and Saturday is time off for me, not a working day!

If you win one of my auctions please get in touch as soon as possible - just a quick email to confirm you will be sending payment is fine. I will usually send an invoice within 24 hours unless an online payment is received.

If you send payment by post PLEASE include a letter - just a note with your name and address, ebay ID, and the item number is fine. Cheques and postal orders sent without any form of identification cost me too much time following up.

There are too many non-paying bidders on Ebid, and I have no tolerance for them. My policy is to send a reminder after a week, then make an NPB alert after a further week. If you bid on an auction by mistake or have a genuine reason for not sending payment let me know as soon as possible and we may be able to work something out.

ALL ABOUT MYSELF

Unlike some Linux distro sellers on here and other auction sites I actually use Linux - Fedora Core 2 and Mandrake 10 - as my day to day operating system, rather than simply burning CD's to make money. Most of the CD's I sell incidentally are tested with a full installation before despatch.

I am a strong supporter of open source software, and unlike some Linux sellers I do make contributions to open source projects. If you purchase open source software from me please consider using Paypal, which I normally use for my donations - that way some of your money will go back to the Community (I do not charge for Paypal - I feel that charging someone to send me their hard-earned money is not quite right!).

For most of my software I cannot unfortunately offer full-time support; however I do use Linux, OpenOffice.org, and other open-source applications, so I am very happy to answer questions - if I can't answer your question I will at least try to point you in the right direction.
As most of the Linux distribution sales I make are of Fedora I have put together a few pages to answer the questions I am asked most often - please see http://freespace.virgin.net/kevin.pearson/fedora/ for details.

Finally - the question I'm asked most - why Sorrynige? A friend's band was doing a cover of Here I Go Again a few years ago, and if anyone can remember the TV ad for Bold with Blacksnake....
