Some Information About DandRdesigns
Hi there
I started raising money for THT last year. I was teaching/ directing students in a production of Rent and wanted to connect their work to the real world so decided to contact THT for information.
I somehow got myself into stalking celebrities for autographs and also contacted various businesses for donations like theatre tickets and restaurant vouchers to auction at the performances.
The events were fairly successful but not so much money was raised. The main thing was really the autographs but the venue I approached....who will remain nameless....really let me down. I turned up with all the autographs having been told they would show my DVD of contributers on the main dance floor and that there would be a celebrity auctioneer.
They didn't do any of that and instead put me in the smallest part of the club, attempted to put the items on a beer covered table and gave me a mic that didn't work. I attempted to start the auction but people turned their backs!
The club owner sent me a shocking email which today still makes me very angry...he blamed the punters who, he said, were now bored with the whole AIDS thing. He said worse than that but I won't go into it.
It's taken longer than expected because apart from teaching and performing, I also write for a website so I've been a little slow in getting it all together.
Finally, and just in time for Christmas, I am getting on ebid to do the auction.
Hopefully, people can help me spread the word and I can finally raise some money.
The support from celebrities has been overwhelming, with contributions from Kylie Minogue, Joan Baez, Little Britain, Stephen Fry, Darren Hayes, Mari Wilson, Ruthie Henshall, Barb Jungr, Eddi Reader, Marcus Patrick and contributions from Adult Entertainers including Carlo Masi & Adam Champ, Steve Cruz, Dean Flynn, Cole Ryder, Tristan Mathews, Blake Riley, Dominik Rider, Cody Fallon, Christian Owen, Alex Baresi, Aaron Savvy and Damien Crosse.
Items received for auction include signed pictures, CDs, posters, DVDs and even a signed Jockstrap from Alex Baresi, Dean Flynn and Steve Cruz!!!
