Seller's Description
[Title]: LUFTPOST. Extrablatt. Grösste U-Bootoffensive zusammengebrochen.
[Political Warfare Executive, 1943]. Original aerial propaganda leaflet printed in red and black, illustrated. 2 pages. 215 x 267 mm. Text in German.
Code G.42 [1943]. - Kirchner 5, 142.
“To the German navy, May [1943] became known as ‘Black May’: during the month a total of 41 U-boats, on third of all those on station, were sunk by the Royal Navy and the RAF. The Battle of the Atlantic was over. Conceding defeat, Grand Admiral Dönitz ordered all U-boats to pull out of the North Atlantic and reposition themselves south of the Azores.” (A. Read and D. Fisher, The Fall of Berlin, p. 121).
Folded in the middle, split along the fold, some rubbing and creasing and a few nicks, still a decent copy a rare leaflet. - Authenticated by Klaus Kirchner, with his hand stamp in the bottom right corner.
Please note: the leaflet will be mailed folded along the existing fold lines.
