Seller's Description
Original aerial propaganda leaflet. [Electra House 1941]. 2 pages, illustrated. 137 x 213 mm. Text in German.
Code EH.477. - Kirchner 1, 179.
A rare leaflet containing a message from Wendell Wilkie, the opposition candidate to Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1940 United States presidential election. It reads in part: “ I am of pure German descent.... My grandparents left Germany 90 years ago.... I am proud of my German blood, but I hate belligerence and oppression. Tell the German people that the overwhelming majority of my fellow Americans of German descent share these sentiments of mine. They too believe in freedom and human rights…”.
Previously folded in quarters, some rubbing, creasing and soiling, minor edge-wear.
