Original 1786 5 1/4 inch x 3 1/4 inch Etching and Engraving titled WORLD
Illustration to the ‘World’ from 'Harrison's British Classicks'. 1786.
Print by Charles Grignion (1721 - 1810). Engraver of French origin but worked and died in England; very active in middle decades of the century.
From a picture by Edward Francis Burney (1760 - 1848). Burney was born in Worcester, the son of Richard Burney and Elizabeth Humphries. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1776, where he received encouragement from Sir Joshua Reynolds. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1780 until 1803. His work included historical subjects and portraits of friends and family. Much of his work was done for book illustrations, including a series for an edition of Milton's Paradise Lost.
