Seller's Description

WORCESTERSHIRE PRIVIES: A NOSTALGIC TRIP DOWN THE GARDEN PATH. Alan Richards.
Alan Richards spent his first eleven years using a pull-and-let-go water closet in a brick outhouse up the garden. Even so, when he set out to research this book little did he realise just how many local privies there were to discover.
WORCESTERSHIRE PRIVIES is a descriptive and pictorial tribute to those lavatories of yesteryear, taking us from the highly unsanitary Middle Ages ('Beware of emptyinge pysse pottes, and pyssing in chytmnes;) to the more comic encounters  of recent times.
Dr Alan Richards is an historian and lives in Bromsgrove. He is the author of a number of local history books and is well known in Worcestershire for his talks, which range from privies and plagus, to gunpowder plotters and ghosts.
