Fool your neighbors and friends. Prop this easy to make life-size ‘yard shadow’ in your lawn. A jigsaw, plywood, a little black paint, and this pattern is all it takes to make this fun design.

Everyone will do a double take when you display this lifesize silhouette in your yard or on a building! Easy to make from plywood using only a jigsaw, transfer paper, black paint and our full-size pattern. (Finished size: approx. 72" X 23" (183 x 58.4 cm))

INSTRUCTIONS

This large pattern is presented in several pieces and overlapped due to space limitations and to keep our pattern prices as low as possible. To keep pieces separate, each is drawn with a different type of line.

TRACING: Use one of the following methods to trace this design onto your ½” or ¾” thick exterior grade plywood:
Method 1 --Separate the pattern pieces by tracing them onto another sheet of paper, such as newspaper. Then cut the pattern pieces out and tape them together at the match lines. Cover an area of plywood the size of this figure with sheets of transfer paper. Lay this pattern over the transfer paper and transfer all of the pattern lines onto the plywood by simply tracing.
Method 2 --Trace the foot onto the plywood using transfer paper as above. Then move the pattern to line up match line B and trace the lower body. Move the pattern again to line up match line A and trace the upper body.

CUTTING OUT: After transferring all outlines, cut out this design using a hand held sabre saw.

PAINTING: Paint the figure (both sides & all edges) black. Use a good quality exterior enamel. For maximum weather protection consider applying several coats of our quality outdoor project sealer.

SETTING UP: Lean this casual cowboy yard shadow against a tree or an old building. Fasten in place using steel “L” brackets screwing into the plywood and the tree or siding at several spots. To lean against the house drive a four or five foot long steel fence post or a wooden 2x2 stake about 18” to 24” into the ground. Center the figure in front of the post or stake then attach the figure with a single 3/8” dia. carriage bolt near the top. Paint the bolt head black.
