Original 1872 6 1/2 inch x 9 7/8 inch coloured print titled HORDEUM MURINUM. WALL BARLEY.
Hordeum murinum, commonly known as wall barley or false barley, is a species of grass, and a close relative of cultivated barley. It is quite widespread and common. It flowers during May through July in mainly coastal areas. In the British Isles it is absent throughout most of Ireland and Scotland but is common in England and Wales.
Drawn by John Edward Sowerby (1825 - 1870). A British botanical illustrator and publisher born in Lambeth, London.
