Original 1878 7 1/8 inch x 5 1/2 inch engraving titled WAITING FOR THE COUNTESS
A dog lying to left on grass beside a fence, raising its left paw and head as if having heard a sound.
Engraved by Charles George Lewis (1808 - 1880). Line, stipple, mezzotint engraver and etcher. Best known for his numerous engravings after Edwin Landseer (from 1837).
After Edwin Landseer (1802 - 1873). Sir Edwin Henry Landseer RA was an English painter and sculptor, well known for his paintings of animals – particularly horses, dogs, and stags.
Published in the Art Journal by J.S. Virtue & Co. Ltd., London.
