Vogue sewing pattern V1885, for Misses' retro 1960s special occasion dress. This pattern is new, but the design is vintage Vogue, from approximately 1966.
Difficulty Rating: Advanced.
Vintage Vogue circa 1966, evening or mid-knee length full strapless dress is gathered onto full underdress with foundation. Self bias tube bow or ribbon bow is under bustline. 2 1/4″ hem allowed on dress. Narrow hem for sheers.
FABRICS: Dress and Underdress: Brocade, Crepe, Satin, Silk. Also for Dress: Sheer fabrics such as Chiffon, Voile. Foundation: Taffeta. Underlining (for non-sheer dress): China Silk. Underlining (for sheer dress): Sheers. Hem Interfacing: Cotton Flannel. Unsuitable for obvious diagonals.
NOTIONS: A, B: One 14" (36 cm) zipper, four very small covered snaps, three hook and eyes, 31/2 yds. (3.2 m) (3.2m) of 1/4" (0.6 cm) feather boning, 11/4 yds. (1.2 m) (1.2m) of 1" (2.5 cm) wide grosgrain ribbon (waistline), 4 yds. (3.7 m) (3.7m) of 1/2" (1.3 cm) wide grosgrain ribbon, 13/4 yds. (1.6m) of 1/2" (1.3 cm) elastic, 3/4 yd. (0.7 m) (0.6m) of 1/4" (0.6 cm) twill tape, two 71/2" (19.3 cm) zig zag wire stays. Also for B: 21/2 yds. (2.3 m) (2.3m) of 1" (2.5 cm) wide ribbon (bow).
