The S.S. Colombie was inaugurated in 1931 and spend the years before World War Two, plying her trade as a merchant ship for the French shipping company CGT.
She was converted into an armed merchantman at the onset of World War Two before being seized by the U.S.A. in 1943.
She spent the remaining war years as a troopship and then a hospital ship (renamed the Aleda E. Lutz).
The end of the war saw the Columbie returned to the "Compagnie Generale Transatlantique."
She was scrapped in 1974.
