Seller's Description
CHAU2401 Antique 1950 BBC letter from Val Henry Gielgud CBE who was an English actor, writer, director and broadcaster. He was a pioneer of radio drama for the BBC, and also directed the first ever drama to be produced in the newer medium of television. He became Head Of Productions at the BBC in 1929 and in 1946 after the war became Head Of BBC Drama. He here responds to an applicant applying for a television casting role in the BBC in one of his dramas which he has to respond he has no openings. He has hand signed the letter. Please note this is really poor condition as browned (see scan) and centre fault but its a very rare signing and from approx 75 years ago on official BBC headed paper with the official matching BBC envelope too (also with large brown mark) for the ultimate in lifetime authenticity.
