Seller's Description
CHAU2480 Antique 1950 BBC letter from Val Henry Gielgud CBE who was an English actor, writer, director and broadcaster. He was a pioneer of radio drama for the BBC, and also directed the first ever drama to be produced in the newer medium of television. He became Head Of Productions at the BBC in 1929 and in 1946 after the war became Head Of BBC Drama. He here responds to an applicant applying for a television casting role in the BBC which he has to respond he has no openings. He has hand signed the letter. It is apparent at the interview they have requested his Brother (who worked at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith) could find them a job opening but he admits this unlikely. Please note this is in pristine condition and from approx 75 years ago on official BBC headed paper with the official matching BBC envelope too (graded vg) for the ultimate in lifetime authenticity.
