Seller's Description

Private issue of the card.

Since the beginning of the russian aggression, solidarity with the Ukrainian people has been expressed not only by the top officials of states who, despite the danger and difficult logistics, have visited the capital of wounded but unconquered Ukraine, but also by artists: famous actors in numerous interviews, musicians during concerts, and painters on canvas or in the open air of Ukraine.

The ART vs WAR stamp series began in 2023 with the release of the “FCK PTN!” stamp with graffiti painted on the wall of a destroyed house in the village of Borodyanka (Kyiv region) by the mysterious English artist Banksy. This year, the series continues with the release of a postage block with works by the equally mysterious French artist James Colomina, who, “to condemn the injustice of this war and demonstrate unwavering support for the Ukrainian people,” created five red sculptures in Kyiv in 2024 for Independence Day.

The postage stamps feature the author's works located on Independence Square: “Messenger” - on the facade of the main post office building; ‘Dove’ - on the lantern near the memorial to the Heroes who died for Ukraine; ‘Girl on a swing’ on the Alley of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes.

The postal envelope reproduces Colomina's drawing that he left in Taras Shevchenko Park. The artwork, which intertwines weapons and children's play, emphasizes the absurdity and cruelty of wars that destroy the childhood of millions of children.
