Baron Fedorovich Tornau (Tornov) (1810-1890) is a Russian officer, diplomat, writer, intelligence officer, participant in the Caucasus War, author of non-fiction works: Memories of a Caucasian officer, Memories of the 1829 campaign in European Turkey, From Vienna to Carlsbad, and others. Tornaus works are an important and reliable source on the history of nineteenth-century Russia, from the Russo-Turkish War of 1828-29 to the events of the post-reform era.
