Seller's Description

Original British 17 inch x 11 inch Double-Sided Trade Advertisement from Kinematograph Weekly for the 1940 Robert Stevenson Boarding School Drama TOM BROWN’S SCHOOLDAYS, based on the novel by Thomas Hughes and starring Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Freddie Bartholomew, James Lydon, Josephine Hutchinson, Billy Halop, Gale Storm and Hughie Green.

Dr. Thomas Arnold (Cedric Hardwicke) is the newest headmaster at the once-prestigious Rugby School, which has seen its reputation falter due to the behavior of its students. Although much of the public is against Arnold's reform efforts, Squire Brown (Ernest Cossart) supports him, and even sends his son, Tom (Jimmy Lydon), to the school. As Tom struggles to overcome the bullying from the other boys, Arnold works at changing the very culture of the school and its pupils.

On the reverse is the 1940 Jack Hively Romantic Drama ANNE OF WINDY WILLOWS (ANNE OF WINDY POPLARS), based on the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery and starring Anne Shirley, James Ellison, Henry Travers, Patric Knowles, Slim Summerville, Elizabeth Patterson, Louise Campbell, Joan Carroll, Katharine Alexander, Minnie Dupree, Alma Kruger and Marcia Mae Jones.

Sentimental drama about an ambitious young teacher who arrives in a small town to take the job of vice-principal.

The Advertisement is in very good condition with a horizontal fold.
