Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1965 Georges Franju Drama THOMAS L'IMPOSTEUR, based on the novel by Jean Cocteau and starring Emmanuelle Riva, Jean Servais, Fabrice Rouleau, Sophie Dares, Rosy Varte, Bernard Lavalette, Jean-Roger Caussimon, Michel Vitold, Gabrielle Dorziat and Edouard Dermit.

Cocteau asked Franju to direct this version of his novel about the fantasist of the title (Rouleau) who masquerades as a general’s nephew to serve in a World War 1 ambulance corps. This compelling film is true to the surreal spirit of Cocteau, but Franju brings his own unique, highly decorative visual imagination.

Poster art by Jean Mascii. Mascii was one of the most prolific French film poster artists of the second half of the 20th century creating over 2,000. He was born in Italy in 1926 his family then settled in France in 1932. He began work designing cinema facades and designed his first film poster for La Dame D'Onze Heures starring Paul Meurisse in 1947. He died in Paris in 2003.

The poster is in very good folded condition with tiny holes at two of the crossfolds.
