Seller's Description
They sought out Rommel - a diary of the Libyan campaign from November 16th to December 31st, 1941, HMSO, London, 1942, paperback (125mm x 130mm), 72 pages, two small maps.
This is one of the well-known series of 'HMSO paperbacks' produced as public information during WW2. It was written, in the form of a daily diary, by Captain Seam Fielding, Green Howards, while escorting a party of war correspondents during 8th Army operations in the Libyan desert, against German and Italian forces under Rommel, in late 1941. The group moved around meeting many different units of the 8th Army, and the diary describes the challenges of travel in the desert, the highly mobile fighting which they witnessed, and difficulties encountered by the journalists in doing their work.
The booklet is in fairly worn condition, with rusty staples, wear and creasing to the cover and spine, a few marks inside, and heavy marking on the back cover. A few pages are slightly loose.
