Seller's Description

The Slender Thread (1959) P. J. Merrill - RARE - PANTHER PAPERBACK 1963 Edition

The only novel written by Holly Roth using the pseudonym P. J. Merrill. Helen Holly Roth-Franta was an American writer who authored novels and short stories in the genres of spy fiction and detective fiction. She also published works under the pseudonyms P.J. Merrill and K.G. Ballard. Roth published twelve novels in her lifetime and many short stories, one of which was nominated for an Edgar Award. In 1964, Roth disappeared off the coast of Morocco while sailing with her husband and is presumed deceased

Synopsis: Gordon Monroe is working on his latest novel in a lonely mountain shack when suddenly his seclusion and his life are shattered by an intruder - a small boy, ragged, frightened, almost inarticulate, who carries on his body the grim tell-tale marks of severe ill treatment. What is Monroe to do with this terrified fugitive from nowhere? What follows is a breathless flight bringing in its train terror and violence.

The book is in generally good condition with some light wear to the cover and a stain where a price sticker has been removed. There is a pen mark to the top right corner of the inside cover and a booksellers stamp to the first title page.

The pages are lightly yellowed with age but in very good condition.
