THE MASQUERADE BEGINS - Limited Edition by Royal Worcester (C&W 1991) SEE NOTES

THE MASQUERADE BEGINS is a limited edition of 12,500 figures (This is number ??? - the edition number has been scrapped off) each crafted in the purest Royal Worcester English fine bone china.

The latest in a superb Collection of figures created by EMMY award-winning designer, Raymond Hughes and crafted in Royal Worecester fine bone china, decorated with 22 carat gold and sculpted with the unique flair of Nigel Stevens. The series is called 'ENCHANTED EVENINGS' 

This figure was purchased by me in 1992, We had purchased 3 other figurines direct from Compton & Woodhouse and  when we saw this one in the window of an antique shop in Bewdley, Worcestershire, we decided to buy. Only when we looked closely did we realise the edition number had been removed and the right hand that is holding the real metal masque is missing it's thumb.( I understand this was a common problem with the figurine and that later editions in the run replaced the metal masque with an integeral china one, highlighted in gold) whether this is the reason the edition number was removed, or possibly some other, less savoury one, we will never know (this was over 30 years ago)    

The only document I have with this figuring is a colour glossy page advert stating the figure is part of the ENCHANTED EVENINGS collection.

Originally Compton & Woodhouse were the company that commissioned and direct-sold the figurine, which was made by Royal Worcester

Although I no longer have the original packaging, I will bubble-wrap and box and send by Royal Mail using their Medium Parcel, Tracked 48 service.,
