Excellent historical drama that shows how young Catholic girls ended up living in these Nun facilities. You'll see what is was like back in the days when young Catholic girls could be sent to live there for years. If you enjoy historically correct period dramas, don't miss this movie. You'll love the girls that get put there, feel sorry for them, & root for them to escape. Its very interesting. This is an exceedingly difficult film to watch and though I've seen it several times I still cringe at certain scenes. The film tells the story (a true story) of how young women were kept as virtual slaves by a series of Irish convents. If you don't like the Catholic church to start, this film won't improve your opinion. These poor young women were beaten, humiliated and threatened on an hourly basis and were tortured (there is no other word to describe what they went through) by the evil nuns that kept them prisoner (may they all rot in hell). That Irish society allowed these evil institutions to exist is behind comprehension.
