Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Collector's Edition was a VHS collection released by Columbia House in the 1990s. The second Star Trek series to be released on a subscription basis by Columbia House, the collection featured all the episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation in production order (excepting "Unification II", which was produced before the first part). Episodes were typically collected two per tape; unlike the UK VHS releases, two-parters were deliberately released together, which meant that three-episode tapes were sometimes issued to avoid breaking them up. Tapes were sent to subscribers every four to six weeks, and each volume was returnable within ten days. The initial run of "Encounter at Farpoint" featured the edited two-part syndication version of the episode. Later releases corrected this error, at the request of Gene Roddenberry and Paramount, and issued the feature-length version in its place. The cassettes were originally available in the United States by subscription at $19.95 plus shipping and handling each after the first tape which was only $4.95 plus $2.45 shipping and handling.
