1) STAGE SCENERY by Jenifer Wyatt.

This book deals with the construction and painting of scenery from the strictly practical point of view. It is divided into two parts. The first of these is "building", which describes the construction of the traditional type of scenery, offers hints and advice on carpentry, and discusses the use of a variety of alternative materials to wood. The second part is concerned with "painting". This section describes the basic requirements of the scene painter, gives instruction on the preparation of wood and canvas surfaces, and offers many suggestions for "short cuts" and simplified painting methods for those of no more than average artistic talent.

 

2) STAGE CRAFT by A.J.Bradbury and W.R.B. Howard.

It is for the thousands who make up the amateur movement that this and the other handbooks in the Series have been specially designed. Each has been written by an expert, each deals constructively and practically with the problems and requirements of an important part of stage presentation. Each shows youm by means of text, illustrations and diagrams, what to do and how to do it. These basic principlea apply, of course, to the whole theatre - to the professional no less than the veriest amateur - but it is from the viewpoint of the amateur and the amateur stage, on either a very modest or an ambitious scale, that they are presented here.
