Original 1878 5 3/4 inch x 5 1/8 inch engraving titled THE SLEEPING FAUN
The Sleeping Faun was created in 1865 in Rome, and was one of Hosmer's most celebrated works.
Engraved by Edward William Stodart (1841 - 1914). Engraver.
From the statue by Harriet Goodhue Hosmer (1830 - 1908). Harriet Goodhue Hosmer was a neoclassical sculptor, considered the most distinguished female sculptor in America during the 19th century. She is known as the first female professional sculptor. Among other technical innovations, she pioneered a process for turning limestone into marble.
