Original circa 1832 7 1/8 inch x 4 3/8 inch Etching and Engraving titled SCANDAL
Evening scene in a room, with two elderly women seated on chairs, facing each other, gossiping with hand gestures; a little boy playing with a dog in foreground at right.
Engraved by James Mitchell (1791 - 1852). Line engraver working primarily after David Wilkie's paintings.
From the painting by Robert Smirke (1752 - 1845). Robert Smirke was an English painter and illustrator, specialising in small paintings showing subjects taken from literature. He was a member of the Royal Academy.
