Huskvarna (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈhʉ̂ːsˌkvɑːɳa] (About this soundlisten); formerly spelled Husqvarna) constitutes the eastern part of Jönköping, a city in the Swedish province of Småland, and has a population of about 24 000[1]. The distance to central Jönköping is about 5 km.[citation needed] The name Huskvarna translates to House Mill.[2]

Between 1911 and 1970, it was a city municipality of its own. It geographically grew together with Jönköping in the 1950s. Since the local government reform in 1971, it is administratively in Jönköping Municipality.

Jönköping (/ˈjɜːn(t)ʃɜːpɪŋ/,[3][4] Swedish: [ˈjœ̂nːˌɕøːpɪŋ] (About this soundlisten)) is a city in southern Sweden with 93,797 inhabitants (2015).[5] Jönköping is situated at the southern end of Sweden's second largest lake, Vättern, in the province of Småland.

The city is the seat of Jönköping Municipality, which has a population of 141 081 (2019) and is Småland's most populous municipality.[6] Jönköping is also the seat of Jönköping County which has a population of 363 599 (2019).[7] Jönköping is the seat of a district court and a court of appeal as well as the Swedish National Courts Administration. It is the seat of the Swedish Board of Agriculture.[8]
