Rye Bus at Ashford Station Road 1976, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large 12" inch x 8" inch photo of a Maidstone & District bus pulling out of the exit of the old Ashford bus station in Station Road in 1976. The bus is 1968 Leyland Leopard,Registration OKO801G, Fleet number 2801, Route 412, Destination 'Rye Rail Station, Hamstreet'.
A Ford Cortina and other classic cars of the period can be seen in the distance, alongside the bush shelters that are no longer there. The main building in the photo has been demolished and another building erected in it's place, but if you look on street view in 2009 you will see this building is still there.
For present day context, the Ashford Baptist Church is out of shot on the left, and 'Stourside Place' is just out of shot to the right of where the old ladies are stood in the photo.
