In British Railway days you had many opportunities to hand over money on Ryde Pier!

4d ( in this case) to walk past the ticket inspector at the shore gate if you didn't have a qualifying railway/ferry ticket. Then 2d if you wanted to ride the tram to the Pier Head rather than walk the half mile. Even then, to get to the BR ferry berths was another 2d - and if you wanted to go 'full English' it was another 2d/3d for a platform ticket for the Pier Head railway station.

Dated:  No  but this ticket from 1962-1967 period.
