Seller's Description
Original 10 1/8 inch x 8 inch Portrait of ROD LA ROCQUE
Portrait by Melbourne Spurr
Rod la Rocque (1896 - 1969) was born in Chicago. A tall, dashing matinee idol of the silent screen, he starred in several Cecil B. De Mille social comedies. So great was his popularity in the 1920s that his wedding to Vilma Banky in 1927 was turned into a Hollywood spectacular personally supervised by his discoverer, producer Samuel Goldwyn. La Rocque made a successful transition to talkies, playing leading, then supporting roles into the early 1940s. He then retired from the screen for a successful career as a real estate broker.
The portrait is in very good condition with minor surface marks.
