Seller's Description

Detailed Condtion : Good / Very Good condition - all have score on front. Includes rare Fuel Emergency Edition programme

Here is a very rare opportunity for a complete collection of Charlton Athletic's full home league programmes from 1946/47 season (a season which they would win the FA Cup)

This was the return to the first full Football League programme post war season where it returned to 4 Divisions and Division 1 and Division 2 were no longer geographically divided.

A wonderful selection of programmes, given a window into life in Britain shortly after the Second World War had finished - with interesting notes and adverts to read.

Charlton returned to a issuing a full 8 page programme, rather than the single page issue seen during War and shortly after - Priced at 2d each, with the exception of the very rare Fuel Emergency Edition (Aston Villa) which was a 4 page issue.

Nearly all of the programme is in good / very condition, however they all have score noted on front. A couple also have an annotation regarding the owners exasperation that Charlton should've won or shouldn't have lost! Most have score/scorers noted on team line up page, with a couple having "Wot a goal" noted inside!

All of Charlton's 1946/47 home league programmes are included in the collection, with a breakdown as follows:

7 Sept 1946 - Man Utd
11 Sept 1946 - Sunderland
21 Sept 1946 - Sheff Utd
25 Sept 1946 - Leeds Utd
5 Oct 1946 - Bolton Wanderers
26 Oct 1946 - Everton
9 Nov 1946 - Wolves
23 Nov 1946 - Blackburn Rovers
7 Dec 1946 - Derby County
21 Dec 1946 - Blackpool
26 Dec 1946 - Grimsby Town (finished 0-0, but "Charlton should have won!" noted on the front)
28 Dec 1946 - Stoke Cityv
18 Jan 1947 - Preston North End
1 Feb 1947 - Chelsea ("Charlton shouldn't have lost" noted on the front)
22 Feb 1947 - Aston Villa (very rare Fuel Emergency 4 page edition / Fuel Cuts issue)
8 Mar 1947 - Huddersfield
22 Mar 1947 - Brentford
4 April 1947 - Middlesbrough
5 April 1947 - Portsmouth
19 Apr 1947 - Arsenal
10 May 1947 - Liverpool (fair condition - more creased, frayed edge and scuff on cover) - Liverpool champions.

Please check photos to satisfy yourself with the condition of this near 80 year old collection - photos form part of the description and sale.
