Seller's Description

Rail (Enthusiast) February 1994. Issue No.219

Main features:

- A Blast from the Past at Tinsley:  Whilst Class 46 'Peaks' were never allocated to Tinsley depot, their earlier cousins, the Class 45s, were, nominally for Midland Main Line passenger and freight duties and Scarborough-Holyhead services. Recreating a scene from the past at the South Yorkshire depot is Pete Waterman's Class 46 'Peak' No.D172 Ixion, pictured on January 11, in the company of RfD's Class 47/0 No.47188. The 'Peak' was at Tinsley for a load bank test and 'E'-exam, to comply with InterCity safety requirements, prior to its outing on the St.Pancras to Sheffield railtour on February 27.

- Enter the Class 92s:  Murray Brown provides an insight into Railfreight Distribution and Brush Traction engineer's programme for the introduction of the Class 92 locomotives, including the full testing plan for the first three locomotives.

- News:  French locomotives arrive at Dollands Moor; job losses announced at BRML; MERCO Pullman train relaunched; ticket interavailability in doubt and InterCity coaches get secondary door locks.

- The Human Revolution:  It is October 1957 and a group of railwaymen at Stratford were waiting, with some trepidation, the arrival of the first main line diesel locomotive at Stratford. Dick Hardy recalls D5500's arrival and its effect on staff.

- Railway Jigsaw:  Gavin Morrison continues his photographic jaunts around the country and this time takes an indepth look at the railway between Stirling and Perth. Now which station used to called Crieff Junction?
