FIRST PAST THE POST BUT PLACED LAST Pat Eddery on HOME FIRE (left) passes the post first in the Findon Stakes at Goodwood only to be relegated to last place after a Stewards Inquiry supported by the objection of second placed SCARCELY BLESSED'S rider Willie Carson. SCARCELY BLESSED (centre) was awarded the race with FANTASY ROYALE (left) Paul Cook up, being given second and GRAIN OF TRUTH third. Eddery was banned for four days from August 6th. 8" x 7" black and white, good condition. Dated 28th July 1976. Press stamp and caption on reverse.
