Seller's Description

This is a postcard showing a train operated by the Lake Shore & Southern Michigan Railway between Chicago and New York.  It was published by the railway company, and posted in 1907.

The sender explains in his message, “this train leaves Chicago at 2.30 pm and arrives in New York City the following day ay 8.30 am.  The fastest train in the world, nearly 1,000 miles in 18 hours including 4 stops.  Fare $30 one way. If train is not on time for each hour late passengers receive a rebate of $1 for each hour late…”

The card is in fair condition, with some wear and creases to the corners and edges, and some marks on the back.   There is heavy vertical creasing at the centre of the card.
