Postcard, Interior Of Smithy - Gretna Green, Dumfriesshire, Scotland R. Rennison

Nice old postcard showing the interior of smithy. The famous blacksmith's shop at Gretna Green, c.1930's. It is signed on the back by Richard Rennison the last of the anvil priests. The postcard states that he had married 2363 couples at that time but by the time the law was changed in 1940 he had married 5147 couples. He was a saddler from Northumberland and came to Gretna Green in 1926. It is published by the Blacksmith's Shop Co. Gretna Green. The corners have some creasing but otherwise in good condition. 14cms x 9cms.
