Philip Blaisberg Africa Dentist Of Heart Transplant History Hand Signed Autograp

CHAU1651  A vintage collection of autographed and vintage ephemera for Philip Blaiberg who was a South African dentist and the third person to receive a heart transplant. On 2 January 1968, in Cape Town, Dr. Christiaan Barnard performed the third heart transplant in the world on the 59 year old Blaiberg (Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz performed the world's second heart transplant, on a baby in the US, three days after Dr. Barnard performed the first). Blaiberg survived the operation, and continued with his life for 19 months and 15 days before dying from heart complications on 17 August 1969. The success of Blaiberg's heart transplant furthered the progress made in regard to heart transplantation.  This incredible selection of ephemera includes newspaper cutting, a fold open journal, stamps (that cant be seen on the scan as they are behind the journal.  It also includes a full autographed 5" x 3.5" personally signed picture by Philip Blaisberg in blue fountain pen and fully detachable (as is the journal too) (the scan shows all the items placed together and whilst centrally folded (so the yellow cutting has a fold) the other items are not affected by the fold and are all outstanding condition- It also includes a fully hand written letter from 1968 from the wife of Philip Blaisberg to a well wisher after his operation detailing his recovery on the familie's official headed paper (see image 2 which I have placed in front of another page of the journal) - the other hand autograph by Philip Blaisberg is undedicated and this is surely the best Philip Blaisberg autograph opportunity of its kind.
