The Pageant of the Gun I thought would be many interesting stories about the guns of famous people but I found there was much more to it. Peterson takes you on a historic journey filled with illustrations and facts. From the Terrifying Crossbow to rocket guns with stories and pictures. There are guns of famous people many aren't beautiful collector's types and sometimes the ones you see them with in pictures aren't their real gun. Many of the chapters have titles that make you think like "The most imitated pistol" or "Upside down guns". The book isn't only about guns it also serves up chapters on Tomahawks, Sabers, Jim Bowie's Knife, Ammo, Gadgets and even restoring Antique Arms. This book gives you a lot of information in 329 pages with a good index. I really enjoyed this book and it has found a home on my shelf to share with friends and family, it's a true collector's item.
