Seller's Description
Todmorden 1971, Hebden Bridge Bus on Burnley Road, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large 11"" inch x 8"" inch photo of a period street scene on Burnley Road, under the railway viaduct, Todmorden in 1971. It is a midweek morning and a Todmorden Joint Omnibus 1950 Leyland Titan PD2/1, fleet number 351, registration plate HWY36 and destination board 'Hebden Bridge via Todmorden', makes it's way under the viaduct, about to turn left into the tiny bus station, on it's journey from Burnley.
A Mk I Ford Escort Estate car can be seen parked in the background, and a billboard advertisement reading 'Skipper of Burnely - 200 used cars - Ford' can be seen under the arch, whilst the bus is sporting a banner advertisement reading 'Websters Pennine Bitter - Drives out the thirst'.
This is one of the last photographs of this Titan in it's Joint Omnibus livery, as it was withdrawn from service the same year (1971).
A unique atmospheric and moody shot of a typical early 1970's midweek scene in the Pennines.
