Original French 47 inch x 63 inch Poster for the 1985 Stephen Frears Romantic Drama MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE, written by Hanif Kureishi and starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Saeed Jaffrey, Roshan Seth, Gordon Warnecke, Richard Graham and Shirley Anne Field .
An uncommon love story between a young South London Pakistani man (Warnecke), who decides to open an upmarket laundrette to make his family proud, and his childhood friend, a skinhead (Day-Lewis) who volunteers to help make his dream a reality. This culture-clash drama is also a subversive work of social realism that dares to address racism, homophobia, and sociopolitical marginalization in Margaret Thatcher’s England.
