Seller's Description

Middlesborough 1975, Stockton Bus on Corporation Road, Large Photo

Description: This is a Large 12" inch x 8" inch photo of a weekday scene in Corporation Road in Middlesborough in 1975. In the distance a lady in 26 inch flaired 'bell-bottom' trousers runs across the road at the traffic lights at the crossroads with Albert Road.

The bus is a Stockton Corporation liveried 1963 Weymann bodied Leyland Titan PD2/37, Registration plate 4710UP, fleet number H210, route number 41, destination board 'Low Grange, Billingham' - and seen here having just passed the crossroads with Albert Road, heading down Corporation Road - although today the bus wouldn't get very far, as just a few yards down the road it is now blocked with bollards, behind which is now a pedestrianised precinct. Meanwhile a United bus with a 'Samson' beer advert and a 1971 Ford Cortina MkIII GT with vinyl roof wait at the traffic lights on the opposite side of the road. Freeman Hardy Willis store can be seen just behind the United bus, and which is now 'Optical Express' opticians.

A typically busy and thriving everyday Middlesborough scene in 1975.
