The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean is the third installment in The Magic School Bus series of PC games.
The Magic School Bus video game series (both original titles and activity centers) are targeted for children ages 5-10.

The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean
This game is based on The Magic School Bus on the Ocean Floor and the episode "The Magic School Bus Gets Eaten". The class has taken a field trip to the beach; here they find a message in a bottle, which contains clues to a treasure. The user explores the ocean and follows clues that lead him/her to the treasure. This was the first CD-ROM that featured the entire cast on the bus and is the only game where the classroom can't be visited. A Nintendo DS version was released in 2011. The game won an award for Home PC - Holiday Gift Guide - The Best Programs of 1996. The Cedartown Standard praised the game for combining fun with education.
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- A Multimedia PC or compatible with a 486/25 or higher microprocessor.
- 4 MB of RAM (8 MB recommended for better performance).
- 6 MB of free hard disk space.
- Double-speed CD-ROM: The CD-ROM drive can transfer data from the CD-ROM at 300 KB per second while using less than 40% of the CPU bandwidth and has an average seek time of less than 400 milliseconds.
- MS-DOS CD-ROM Extensions (MSCDEX) version 2.2 or later. Check the documentation that came with your CD-ROM drive.
- Super VGA display capable of displaying 256 colors at 640 x 480 resolution. "Scholastic's The Magic School Bus Explores The Ocean" requires a display driver and monitor capable of displaying 256 colors with a color palette in Windows. Using more than 256 colors may affect performance. A local bus video card is recommended.
- MS-DOS operating system version 5.0 or later.
- Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later.
- Windows compatible sound card, such as:
- Ability to play CD audio through sound card.
- Speakers or headphones.
- Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device.
