Mars Pathfinder Colour Landscape Poster - 1997

• Size: 165cm wide x 31cm tall (this includes the border)
• Weight with poster tube: 132g
• Printed on matt paper - non-colour fast ink used so keep away from sunlight or in offices with strong fluorescent or LED bulbs which emit UV.
• Condition pretty good - a very minor crease on top left border but only shows up under shallow lighting. A mark on the back of the poster where it has been rolled up. A reminder again, do not expose poster to daylight for extended periods of a day or more or under lights which give off a lot of UV else the colours will fade.
• This is a NASA image mosaic printed out on a non-NASA colour plotter back in the late 1990's.
• The NASA Mars Pathfinder, and its rover, Sojourner, landed on the Ares Vallis area of Mars in 1997. The first time anything had landed successfully since the two NASA Viking Landers in 1976. A mosaic was made of separate camera images, to make up this panorama. Note the orange/pink sky which is the result of scattering of light from the surface particles in the atmosphere. The image pretty much spans 360 deg as the lander had 3 solar panels, one of which is split between the far-left edged and the far-right edge.
• Possible uses: a nice panorama to put on the wall above a desk or bed to make it look as though you are looking out on the surface of Mars when you are at work or wake up in the mornings. Or around the ceiling. Would look nice framed as well Might make a nice backdrop behind a fish tank - though I guess it’s probably the wrong aspect ratio for most aquariums. Could be useful as a backdrop for manual stop motion animation.
