WS* This beautiful rarely found and most unique modern origin postcard is a unique and wonderful souvenir to Maria Sibylla Merian who was a German-born naturalist and scientific illustrator, a descendant of the Frankfurt branch of the Swiss Merian family. Merian was one of the first European naturalists to observe insects directly.She was a prominent thinker of the Neoplatonic school in Alexandria where she taught philosophy and astronomy. This specialist postcard has an artist contemporary animated painting of her surrounded by the objects related to her studies together with one of her most memorable quotes resting underneath her portrait unused in brand new mint condition
