Original 4 inch x 7 inch 1879 Etching titled MAISON DES REMY, A DOUAI.
Douai is a city in the Nord département in northern France. It is a sub-prefecture of the department. Located on the river Scarpe some 25 miles from Lille and 16 miles from Arras, Douai is home to one of the region's most impressive belfries.
Drawn and etched by Jean Eugène Sadoux (1841 - 1906). Sadoux studied engraving, lithography and drawing in Paris and drew for the magazines “Le Magasin Pittoresque”, “Le Monde illustré" and "l'Illustration". He was also a painter in watercolours, in particular, in 1871 he painted the Templar frescoes of the Commandery of Cressac-Saint-Genis.
