Original 1893 3 7/8 inch x 6 inch Print titled LOVE AMONG THE RUINS
A youth and a maiden embracing in an overgrown court of an Italian renaissance palace, beside a flowering rose with thorns.
From a photograph by by Frederick Hollyer (1838 - 1933). An English photographer and engraver known for his photographic reproductions of paintings and drawings, particularly those of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and for portraits of literary and artistic figures of late Victorian and Edwardian London.
The painting is by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones (1833 - 1898). A British artist and designer associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, who worked with William Morris on decorative arts as a founding partner in Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.
