Seller's Description

5 Original 10 inch x 8 inch Portraits of VANESSA BROWN in the 1947 Joseph L. Mankiewicz Comedy THE LATE GEORGE APLEY, based on the play by George S. Kaufman

Born Smylla Brind in 1928 in Vienna, Vanessa Brown appeared on Broadway at the age of 13 in ‘Watch on the Rhine’ and at 16 made her screen debut in Youth Runs Wild in 1944, billed as Tessa Brind. Changing her name to Vanessa Brown, she went on to play many fetching ingenue roles in films, as well as on the stage, radio and TV, through the early 50s, when she retired to marry TV director Mark Sandrich Jr.. She later returned to acting occasionally, in character parts. Since her semiretirement, she has written numerous newspaper and magazine aryicles, free-lanced for ‘The Voice of America’ broacasts, and published a novel and a nonfiction book. She died in 1999 at the Motion Picture Country Home at age 71.

The portraits are in fine condition
