DEPICTING
An evocative scene, probably dating to 1914, with troops boarding a train that is
in the Goods Yard of TUNBRIDGE WELLS WEST (LB & SCR) railway station.
Railway staff, recognisable by their distinctive caps with large, gilt badges are on
hand to supervise proceedings. Other officers and soldiers stand watching, maybe
waiting for the next departure. Several, well-dressed civilians are also present.
In the background, on a railway wagon, is a large cart belonging to W.C. Harris,
Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, alongside which, on the level surface,
appears to be a canvas-covered army vehicle.
Not sure which regiment is depicted here, maybe the Queen's Own Royal West
Kent Regiment, but as others were also in/around Tunbridge Wells at the time...
