Alfred Groom is listed in the 1901 census (aged 53) as  
being employed in Horticulture, at nearby Sutton-at-Hone

The words "J. Pettigrove's Electric Engine" can be seen on
the side of a Steam Engine/Traction Engine In the background

I believe that the Pettigrove's were a family of showmen, based in Orpington
