All you need to get started.

1200 GRIT
Medium 1,200 grit waterstones are used to remove scratches and further refine and partly polish the surface following honing on a coarse stone. The Ice Bear brand medium stone measures 200 x 63 x 30mm, the extra width allowing them to accommodate a 2.3/8" wide plane iron.
Key Features
- Medium grit, used to remove scratches and further refine surfaces
- Accommodates a 60mm wide plane iron
- 1,200 grit, perfect for sharpening kitchen knives
These are superfine grits, the stones are used to bring the metal to an absolute mirror finish, and hence an ultra sharp edge. Whereas the coarser stones can be stored in water, these fine stones are harder and not so porous, so only need to be sprinkled with water just before use, and left dry at all other times. They are mounted on bases and the very finest are supplied with an artificial Nagura stone; used to de-glaze, true and build up slurry on the surface of the stone, which helps the polishing process. The 4,000 and measure approximately 190mm x 63mm x 19mm and the 10,000 grit 200mm x 75mm x 25mm. As a guide a 6,000 grit is a good choice for everyday work.
Key Features
- Superfine grits for absolute mirror finishes and ultra sharp edges
- Can be left dry when not in use
- 10,000 grit stone supplied with artificial Nagura stone
Amongst the many advantages of sharpening tools with a Japanese waterstone is the ease of flattening or resurfacing of the stone. This means you can always sharpen on a flat surface, thus obtaining the very best results. Use this 150 grit ceramic stone to regularly dress your waterstone. The hard ceramic particles and bond means it will never wear out in normal use. Keep one to hand and use frequently. If your water stone is dished or hollow; use the grooved surface of the flattening stone, After the hollow is removed, use the flat surface of the back of the flattening stone. Rubbing with a circular motion across the top of the waterstone regularly keeps your sharpening stones in peak condition.
Size 155 x 52 x 25mm.
