Seller's Description
Original 1872 6 1/2 inch x 9 7/8 inch coloured print titled LOLIUM ITALICUM. ITALIAN RYE-GRASS.
Lolium italicum is a ryegrass native to temperate Europe, though its precise native range is unknown. It is a herbaceous annual, biennial, or perennial grass that is grown for silage, and as a cover crop. It is also grown as an ornamental grass. It readily naturalizes in temperate climates, and can become a noxious weed in arable areas and an invasive species in native habitats.

From a disbound copy of English Botany; or, Coloured Figures of British Plants edited by John T. Boswell Syme
Third Edition Published in London in 1872 by by Robert Hardwicke, 192 Piccadilly.
The print is in very good condition. Reverse side blank.
